South Daytona storm recovery update

SOUTH DAYTONA - South Daytona is still experiencing power outages.

All roads are open except for Boston and the end of Longshadow.

Garbage and recycling pickup in South Daytona on Monday Oct. 10 will be as usually scheduled. Residents are asked to keep garbage and recycling items separate from any hurricane debris. Waste Pro will only be providing the regular service.

Any hurricane debris will be picked up by a specific contractor under FEMA guidelines, so that the City is eligible for reimbursement. Specific information will be forthcoming, in the meantime, hurricane vegetation should be kept in a separate pile from other hurricane debris. No hazardous materials or waste should be put out.

We are receiving reports of people going door-to-door trying to drum up business. We are urging residents to be alert for door-to-door solicitors who ask for large cash deposits or advance payments in full. Residents should ask for proof of insurance and licensing or state certification.

We are encouraging residents to monitor the City of South Daytona’s Facebook page for regular alerts and updates. There is also additional information on the City’s web site that we will be updating as we go forward:;id=3564
