DISASTER DEBRIS REMOVAL IN SOUTH DAYTONA

Recovery efforts are underway in South Daytona in response to Hurricane Matthew. Please be advised that debris removal crews WILL NOT enter onto private property to collect or remove debris. Residents should follow a few simple rules noted below to ensure pickup.

  • Separate vegetative debris from construction/demolition debris.

Vegetative Debris: Trees, limbs, brush, leaves (unbagged)
  • Other Debris: Structural materials, demolition debris, metal, wood, concrete, shingles, carpeting and drywall, etc.
  • No hazardous materials
  • Do not stack debris under trees or other obstacles that would prevent the truck equipment arm from reaching down to scoop up material.
  • No plastic bags.
  • Do not block fire hydrants, utility meters, mailboxes or drainage ditches.
  • No open burning is allowed in the City

If all debris is not picked up during the initial pass, residents should continue to place remaining debris curbside for collection on a secondary pass that will be scheduled in 1-2 weeks. Residents may call Public Works at 322-3080 for specific questions.
