 Dear Fellow Resident of South Daytona:

If you are not already a member of SOUTH DAYTONA CITIZENS ALERT COUNCIL, INC., please allow us to introduce ourselves. Currently, we have approximately 90 members with new members joining every day and 35 years of service as the local Neighborhood Watch organization for the community of South Daytona. All of us are unpaid volunteers working toward nonprofit and apolitical goals, including community betterment, citizen education, crime prevention, home & neighborhood safety, and fund-raising for worthy charitable and civic causes within our community. We would like to tell you what we do, and we cordially invite you to attend our meetings, events, and other activities. We offer opportunities for anyone interested in the betterment of our South Daytona community.

Our endeavors include but are not limited to:

  • Holding a general membership meeting or a covered dish dinner every month except July.
  • Having enlightening speakers at some meetings.
  • Providing citizen support for our City especially the police and fire departments and general employees.
  • Providing info in the City Newsletter with a calendar of Citizens Alert events.
  • Main fund-raising events: Annual Day In The Park and Children's Flag Football.
  • Assisting w/funding for Kids Annual Fishing Tournament.
  • Assisting with purchase of bullet-proof vests for police officers.
  • Working “Crime Dog” wagon fund-raisers during City events i.e: Enchanted Forest, Native American Earth Day Festival and Grillers Gone Wild.
  • Providing annual police, fire and general city employee monetary awards at annual meeting for outstanding service to our community.
  • Providing “Neighborhood Watch” signs and assisting with the program.
  • Supporting Citizens Patrol.
  • Sponsoring “National Night Out Against Crime” and parade.
  • Supporting CERT (Community Emergency Response Team).
  • Helping maintain Police Community Relations Office in Sunshine Mall.
  • Supporting Volusia 100 to financially help families of police & fire officers killed in the line of duty.
  • Supporting South Daytona Elementary School for the purchase of school supplies.
  • A yearly educational scholarship award to an Atlantic High school student residing in South Daytona.
