POSITION: Deputy Building Official

SALARY RANGE: $47,684-$78,677  (Salary Commensurate with Qualifications)

Under the general direction of the Chief Building Official, performs a variety of construction plan review and inspection tasks of a mechanical, structural, electrical, and plumbing nature, to ensure compliance with Building, Mechanical or Plumbing codes, National Electrical Code, and other pertinent City ordinances and regulations.  Skilled in more than one discipline and qualified and certified to make inspections in a variety of areas.  Works independently in plan review and field inspections, making decisions requiring the use of technical judgment and discretion. 

High School diploma, GED, or other certificate of competency, supplemented by ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in building construction and inspection, including at least five (5) years at the supervisory level.  Must possess the 1&2 Family Dwelling Standard Inspector License issued by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) plus two additional inspector licenses in building, electrical, plumbing or mechanical. Must have the ability to obtain additional inspector licenses if deemed necessary within two years of employment.  A valid Florida driver's license is required. Applicant must be tobacco free. 

(A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
