Police Department up for Re-Accreditation

In February 2002, the South Daytona Police Department became the 87th Florida Law Enforcement Agency to be awarded “Accreditation” through the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation. On a state level, Accreditation is the highest obtainable award an agency can receive for police service. In 2002, 2005, 2008, 2011, 2014 & 2017 the Department received reaccreditation status. It is time for our review again. The Police Department will go through a Mock Assessment and file review in October 2019, and then undergo a Re-Accreditation “On-Site” November 19th, 20th & 21st, 2019.

Undergoing the “Re-Accreditation” process provides that an agency has meet and complied with more than 230 professional standards designed specifically for Florida law enforcement agencies. Obtaining and maintaining “Accreditation” is considered a significant accomplishment, and this status is held in high esteem by the criminal justice community.
