In alignment with declarations made by the President of the United States and Governor of Florida, Volusia County Government has issued a local state of emergency. This declaration is in effect for all municipalities throughout the County, including South Daytona.  The City of South Daytona is working with state and local officials to prevent exposure and possible spread of the COVID-19 virus amongst our citizens.

The City of South Daytona is taking proactive measures to keep the public safe from potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus by postponing our recreational baseball season to the end of March.  The Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for March 28th has been cancelled. Scheduled meetings of the South Daytona Historical Society and Citizens Alert have been cancelled this month as well.

Every resident of South Daytona plays a vital part in preventing the exposure and spread of the virus.  The most effective way to prevent exposure and spread of the virus is to avoid mass gatherings, wash your hands frequently, stay at home when you are not feeling well, cover cough and sneezes, avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth and by disinfecting all high contact surfaces. The City of South Daytona recommends the public follow the Centers for Disease Control’s guidelines which are available at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus

The City of South Daytona continues to coordinate daily with the Florida Department of Health on the latest information regarding COVID-19. Anyone with questions about potential exposure or spreading of this virus should call the Florida Department of Health COVID-19 call center at 866-779-6121.
