Waterfront Redevelopment Opportunities

The Halifax River provides a picturesque setting in South Daytona. Residents enjoy the advantage of being just a few minutes away from world-famous Daytona Beach and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. In fact, from the shoreline in South Daytona there are views of both the Halifax River and the barrier islands. The river is a natural habitat for playful bottlenose dolphins, manatees, ibis, osprey, egrets, blue herons and brown pelicans. The South Daytona area is noted for its well–kept residential areas, fine schools, beautiful public parks, shopping, dining and nightlife, as well as some of the most beautiful trees in the county. Part of a greater metropolitan area of East Central Florida, the City of South Daytona is near the confluence of two major highways that provide quick, easy access to the third largest consumer region in the United States with a population of more than 17 million. International Airports in Daytona Beach and Orlando, railroad and nearby port facilities enhance South Daytona’s efforts to provide a cost effective and logistically important location to do business and provide an exceptional quality of life. The City’s redevelopment district spans the entire length of the city incorporating all of U.S.1 and the shoreline. Currently there are over 36 acres of vacant, undeveloped land located directly on the Halifax River. The City of South Daytona is able to provide development incentives that may include: special assessments, general obligation bonds, special revenue bonds,  grants and loans, tax abatement/deferment, public-private partnerships and special district designations.
