Knox Box Installation
knox box
The South Daytona Fire Department participates in the Knox Box program for commercial and residential needs.
The knox box is a secure heavy duty metal box that attaches to the outside wall of the business which contains keys that allows firefighters access to the building. In times of fire alarms or other emergencies, firefighters can enter and investigate without damaging doors or windows.
Residential - For residential applications, citizens with mobility issues, recent surgeries or lifeline customers can borrow a knox box. It then can be temporarily mounted to a door to allow firefighters access inside your home in cases of medical emergencies when a person has fallen and can't open the door. Requests for residential boxes are subject to review and are available on a first come first served basis since supplies are limited.

Commercial - You can now order online - In most cases, the #3202 surface mount, lift off door will suffice.  The 3202 comes with the ability to attach it to a tamper switch which if available is the decision of the building owner.  Please call SDFD if you have any questions on models.
