Residential Pickup Schedule

Household Garbage – Monday & Thursday
Recycling – Monday or Thursday (by location):

  • Monday: Big Tree Road north to Beville Road & Reed Canal Road, south to City limits

  • Thursday: Between Big Tree Road and Reed Canal Road

Yard Trash – Monday

Curbside Guidelines

  • Place items curbside by 7:00 A.M. on pickup day.

  • Do not set out earlier than 6:00 P.M. the evening before.

  • Return containers to proper storage by the end of pickup day.

General Collection Guidelines

Household Garbage

Includes food scraps, packaging, clothing, toys, small appliances, and non-recyclables.

  • Use containers 20–32 gallons only (no 50- or 90-gallon toters).

  • Improper containers (wheelbarrows, plastic tubs, blower bags, etc.) will not be collected.

  • Construction materials must be bagged or containerized and weigh less than 50 lbs.

Do NOT place hazardous materials in garbage: gasoline, thinners/solvents, pool chemicals, pesticides, motor oil.

Recycling (Green Bins)

Accepted Items:

  • Paper: Newspapers (with inserts), magazines, junk mail, office paper, phone books, cereal/snack boxes (no liners), pizza boxes, beverage cartons, cardboard (max 4' x 4')

  • Glass: Clear, green, and amber bottles

  • Metal: Aluminum and steel cans (empty aerosol cans; remove plastic tips)

  • Plastic (#1–#7): Bottles and containers (no Styrofoam or plastic bags)

Helpful Tips:

  • Rinse containers to reduce odor.

  • Use two bins (paper in one, cans/bottles in another).

  • Stack heavier bin on top to prevent litter on windy days.

Yard & Vegetative Waste (Monday)

Includes grass clippings, leaves, pine needles, palm fronds, shrubs, and branches.

  • Must be containerized or bagged and placed curbside by 7:00 A.M.

  • Contractor-generated debris must be removed by the contractor.

  • No diameter or weight limit for yard waste collection.

Bulk & Special Items

Appliances & Furniture
Refrigerators (doors removed), stoves, washers/dryers, A/C units, couches, mattresses, cabinets, TVs, etc.

  • Place curbside on regular garbage day.

  • Collected within 48 hours. No call required.

Household Construction Debris

  • Small DIY debris under 50 lbs. may be included with regular pickup.

  • Larger amounts require roll-off service (call 386-322-3002 at least 3 days in advance).

Tires

  • Up to 8 tires per residence per year collected curbside.

  • Up to 4 passenger tires may be taken to Tomoka Landfill, 1990 Tomoka Farms Road, Port Orange (386-947-2952).

Motor Oil & Hazardous Waste

  • Take motor oil, paint, solvents, chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, and other hazardous waste to:

  • Home heating fuel removal: Call Volusia County Solid Waste at 386-943-7889.

Automobile Batteries

  • Leave at place of purchase or place curbside (limit 2 per residence per year).

Roll-Off & Commercial Services

Roll-Off Service
Available for larger projects. Cost varies by size and frequency.

Commercial Pickup
The City maintains an exclusive agreement with Waste Pro, Inc. for dumpster and roll-off services.
