James Park, Reed Canal Park, and Riverfront Park each have pavilions available for rental. The cost is $60 (50% discount for residents) for three hours of use and is limited to 25 guests. Please contact the Parks and Recreation office to reserve a pavilion for your next gathering.

The Piggotte Community Center and the Youth Activity Center are available for rental for events. Please contact the Parks and Recreation office for more information. 

 What is a Local Business Tax Receipt?

A Local Business Tax Receipt (formerly known as “Occupational Licenses”) is a method by which the City South Daytona grants the privilege of engaging in or managing a business, profession, or occupation within its jurisdiction.

What is needed and how do I apply for a BTR?

Prior to Leasing or renting a Commercial location, please send all Business use requests to BTR@southdaytona.org to verify the Business use is permitted in that property's zoning district. Once, you receive confirmation that the business use is permitted, you may proceed with the Commercial BTR Application.

How long will it take to receive my BTR?

All complete application submittals must go through the City’s review process. After the application has been reviewed and approved by City Staff, you will be notified to schedule a fire inspection (commercial locations only) and pay the balance due.

When must I obtain a BTR?

Local Business Tax Receipts must be issued before any business operations begin.

How long is a BTR valid?

An issued BTR is valid beginning October 1^st and expires the following September 30^th.

What are the renewal due dates?

Courtesy renewals are usually sent in August, and the renewal payment must be made by September 30^th to avoid penalties. Even if a courtesy reminder is not received, it is the business owner’s responsibility to ensure the BTR is renewed by October 1^st.

Paid on or after October 1:  additional 10% penalty due

Paid on or after November 1: additional 5% penalty due (15%)

Paid on or after December 1: additional 5% penalty due (20%)

Paid on or after January 1: additional 5% penalty due (25%)

Paid February 1-February 28: additional $250 penalty due (in addition to the 25% penalty above). Further action may be taken through Code Compliance for any operating business that fails to pay after this point. 

I work from my home, do I need a Business Tax Receipt?

Yes, any business that is in the city must have a BTR. The Home-Based BTR Application may be received by contacting btr@southdaytona.org or 386-322-3020.

Do I need any other Local BTRs?

Yes, once you receive your City of South Daytona BTR, you must apply for your Volusia County BTR.

Business Tax Receipts (Formerly known as Business Licenses)

To pay your Business Tax Receipt online by registering you will need your Account ID and Owner Name, to pay by guest you will need just your Account ID.

You can also call 1-833-510-8150 to pay your bill with our automated toll-free number 24 hours a day. Pay by credit card, or debit card. Have your account number and reference number ready when you call.

Redevelopment incentives to encourage targeted businesses to locate in the City's Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) along U.S.1

Targeted Businesses

Financial, medical, professional offices
Food-related businesses including sit-down restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores
High-tech manufacturing, such as aerospace or computer technology
Eco-tourism, marine or sports related businesses
Corporate headquarters

Incentives

Grants up to $50,000 for new construction, up to $25,000 for substantial renovations, up to $15,000 for site improvements, fees and setback waivers.

Eligibility

Eligible to owners and developers of property located within the CRA for future development of targeted businesses or to remove blighted structures that are limiting the marketing or development of specific project sites.  Sites that are directly abutting South Ridgewood Avenue are prioritized.

Incentives

Grants as reimbursement for 50%, up to $15,000, for demolition work.  Site must be stabilized upon demolition and pass final inspection to receive grant funding.

Eligibility Improvements Include:

New or repair of stucco
New windows or doors
Masonry work
Painting
Landscaping (requires a landscape architect and an irrigation system)
New or repair of signs
Removal of false material or addition of material to enhance Façade appearance
Pressure cleaning
Decorative fencing
Awnings
Decorative lighting of exterior

Incentives

The City will reimburse up to 50% of project costs, with a total award not to exceed $5,000.  Funds will be disbursed on a reimbursement basis with proof of payment.  All projects must receive City Council approval, a building permit and a signed contract before construction may begin.
